Toyota Matrix (Corolla Matrix) is a compact car. Mainly it has the forward control and it is both a crossover and hatchback. It was launched in 2002 on basis of the popular Toyota Corolla. At the same time Pontiac Vibe was produced, which represents Matrix by Pontiac. Among the competitors of Toyota Matrix there are such cars as Scion xB, Ford C-Max, Mazda 5 (Premacy), related Pontiac Vibe, Volkswagen Touran, Renault Scenic and other models. In 2014 Matrix was discontinued, since the model decreased in demand.
The choice of the engines for Toyota Matrix is not that big. The first generation was equipped with two different 1.8-liter types from Toyota Celica, but their power was somewhat decreased. The second generation got another 1.8-liter and 2.4-liter engines, which were used for some Corolla models also. No diesel engines were meant.
