Mitsubishi Pajero (Montero) is a body-on-frame SUV produced since 1982, but new models are rarely released, that’s why only four generations have been released over all this time. Under the hood of Pajero 1 gen was the 2.5-liter diesel 4D56 and its predecessor 4D55. The gasoline engines were the 4G63, the 4G54, and the 3.0-liter V6 6G72. For Pajero 2 gen, they used 4G64 and the more modern 4M40 engine. The 3.5 L 6G74 was added to the V6 engines lineup.
In 1999, Pajero 3 was released, where are the diesel engines 4M40, 4D56 and 4M41 were used. Only the V6 gasoline engines were left: the 6G72, the 6G74, and the 6G75.
In 2006 production of Pajero 4 started; its engines had not changed: the old 4D56 was removed, but in China, you can buy a car with an inline-4 4G64 engine.
