Introduction
Subaru Legacy – mid-size is the car, that has been produced since 1989. During this time it passed 6 generations. In this model scale, Legacy stands above Impreza and it is a leader.
The main competitors of Legacy are Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Chrysler 200, Nissan Altima/Teana, Hyundai Sonata, Mazda 6, VW Passat and other similar size cars.
Outback model is produced on the basis of Legacy, till 2000 it was called Legacy Outback. This car represents Legacy with station wagon body, and also with the increased ground clearance, plastic body and other modifications.
Engines of Subaru Legacy of the 1st generation are Flat-four EJ18, EJ20 and EJ22, their capacity is 1.8 l., 2.0 l. and 2.2 liters respectively. EJ20 and EJ22 engines were also manufactured in turbocharged versions.
The second generation of Legacy passed from compact class into mid-size class and small EJ18 motor was no more available for it. But 2.5-liter EJ25 appeared.
In 1998 the third generation was represented, its weight and sizes were increased. The family of engines Legacy III received Flat-six EZ30, its displacement is 3.0 liters.
The fourth Legacy had Flat-4 diesels EE20, and also petrol 2.5-liter turbocharged EJ25.
V and VI Legacy engines are different because they use both favorite EJ20 and EJ25, and new FB25, turbocharged FA20, 3.6-liter with Flat-6 EZ36 and Flat-4 diesel EE20.
Legacy Outback engines are similar to usual Legacy motors.
