Toyota 3UZ-FE engine reliability, problems and repair

3UZ-FE appeared in 2000 with the aim to replace 1UZ-FE and produced together with 4.7-liter 2UZ. The 3UZ cylinder block is the same as at 1UZ, aluminum 90 ° V8 with cast iron sleeves. On this motor cylinder bore increased to 91 mm. As the result walls became thinner. New pistons, lightweight forged connecting rods with weight 581 gr. and the length 146 mm used on 3UZ. Cylinder head gaskets have been modified. Heads of the cylinder block were also updated, diameters of inlet and outlet ports increased. Also used electronic throttle body, modified fuel system, engine cooling system, applied other iridium spark plugs and new ignition coil. Firing order on 3UZ-FE: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The stock size of fuel injectors of Toyota 3UZ-FE engines is 275 cc/min.
Camshafts are set in motion by the timing belt. Replacing of timing belt should be every 50,000-60,000 miles of mileage (90,000-100,000 km).
The motor 3UZ-FE installed on premium class cars, mainly the Lexus brands. In 2006 3UZ began to replace by new 4.6-liter 1UR engine. Process of generational change finally ended in 2010.
