Toyota 3ZR-FE/FAE/FBE engine reliability, problems and repair
The largest ZR engine was introduced in 2007 and replaced the 1AZ. The 3ZR differs from its younger brothers, the 2ZR and 1ZR, with its heightened cylinder block new crankshaft having longer piston stroke (to 97.6 mm), modified connecting rods and pistons. That type is quite similar to the rest ZRs.
Toyota 3ZR engine modifications and differences
1. The 3ZR-FE engine (2007 – present) is the main motor with a 10 compression ratio. Its power is 143 HP at 5600 rpm, its torque is 194 Nm (143 lb•ft) at 3900 rpm. The engine is installed in Toyota Corolla, RAV4, Avensis, Voxy, and Noah.
2. The 3ZR-FAE engine (2008 – present) is similar to the 3ZR-FE and provided with a Valvematic system. Its power is increased to 155 horsepower at 6200 rpm. and torque is 195 Nm (144 lb•ft) at 4400 rpm.
3. The 3ZR-FBE modification (2008 – present) and the 3ZR-FE are alike. It is fitted for operating be means of biofuel. Its capacity is 151 horsepower at 6200rpm. and torque is 187 Nm (138 lb•ft) at 3600 rpm. Toyota Corolla cars are provided with that engine.
